Pink Tie Mondays Celebrate October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month
“Pink Tie Monday!”
For the 4th consecutive year, each male member of the Kenton CAO staff will sport a pink tie every Monday in recognition of October as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month!” Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders started the tradition in honor of Kathy Richmond, mother of then-Asst. Commonwealth’s Attorney Brian Richmond (now Ludlow City Administrator) and the many other breast cancer survivors with ties to the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office. Monday was chosen as the “pink tie day” because it is traditionally the day of the week when each division of the Kenton Circuit Court holds criminal dockets meaning the felony prosecutors spend most of their Mondays in courtrooms. “We want to maximize our exposure, promote breast cancer awareness, and let everyone who has been touched by the fight against breast cancer know we are thinking of them,” said Sanders. Not to be outdone by the men in the office, the female members of the CAO staff accent in pink on Mondays with pink scarves, pink shoes, pink lapel pins, and other pink accessories. The Kenton CAO staff encourages everyone doing business in and around the courthouse to “show some pink” on Mondays in October and help support of Breast Cancer Awareness!
