Victim Resources
If you or someone in your care have suffered through any type of felony crime, such as abuse, rape, or assault, the Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office wants you to know that we are here to listen to you and help you.
In what may be one of the most traumatic experiences of your life, our staff is committed to helping bring you justice by prosecuting those who have harmed you or your loved ones and return you to a life of a renewed sense of safety and security.
To provide a crucial link between the attorneys working your case and the staff who supports them as well as to give you – the victim – a better understanding of what could be a long and potentially complex criminal prosecution process, the Kenton Commonwealth’s Attorney Office has a dedicated, in-house victim’s advocate available to assist you during this trying time.
Our victim’s advocate, as well as our entire team of staff and attorneys, are dedicated to keeping you informed throughout your case, helping you understand the criminal justice process, and “translating” legal terms and explaining issues so you understand exactly what is happening during the criminal justice process.

Victim Impact Statement (Instructions and Form)
Although completely voluntary, the victim impact statement is filled out by the victim (or another person on the victim’s behalf) to help the judge understand how a crime has impacted them. Filling out this form gives victims the opportunity to think about what they want to say and avoid having to speak in open court although like testifying in court, this form, once submitted to the court, becomes an open public record.
Crime Victims Compensation Packet (Instructions and Application)
This packet includes instructions for and an application to file a claim with the Kentucky Crime Victims Compensation Board. This packet is intended for victims and third parties acting on the victim’s behalf (such as a legal guardian, parent of a minor child, and/or the victim’s attorney, etc.). The state requires this form be completed to reimburse, pay, compensate, etc., crime victims for lost wages, medical bills, and/or final expenses, among others.
